Subject: Italian Gun Sight

Posted here: http://www.comandosupremo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4467 (comandosupremo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4467) Are photographs of a gunsight of Italian manufactor, possibly made in 1918. If anyone can identify how the scales on it are operated it would be appreciated. While I can tentatively ID the upper lens , eyepiece, & prmary direction scale the photos are not clear enough to guess at the rest of it.

Copy the URL of the link from within the Strategy page then paste into the normal 'Open' option under the browser (IE) File menu.  Works fine.

I'd put money on the vertical scale alongside the cowl being for altering and measuring the prism angle in the vertical plane.  The two horizontal scale micrometers stick out at the side close by the horizontal macro scales.  I'd also reckon the screw thing is most likely a range drum type device, but it could be angular, either way its for elevation.  Thinking more I think the single bubble is for elevation, not for half a cross level, but you'd complete the azimuth lay after after elevation lay, which achieves half a cross level!  However, as far as I can mentally model it this sight does have independent line of sight.

All I have on my display is the word 'link' underlined.  After I click that the error page comes up.  then I pick the URL out of the garbage attached to it & paste.   Ok, that works, but why cant the sysop have a properly functioning 'link' feature like the the other dozen web sites I frequent?
