The term 'category' is confusing. Maybe he is asking if the propellant comes in several charges zones? Or maybe he is asking about different types of ammo? HE, smoke? Let us know. It may be he is the ignorant one. Which would not be the first time an officer spoke stupid.

THATS FUNNY CARL, I THINK ,KNOW I THINK HE MEANS CATEGORY 1,2 WHICH COULD MEAN FOR YOU NOT TO SMOKE NEAR THE AMMO, AND 2 COULD MEAN SOMTHIN ELSE? I GOIN TO ASK HIM THE QUESTION AGAIN AND ILL GET BACK WITH YOU.THANKS

Politely tell your XO that he should ask the BN Ammo NCO - he should have a big ammo book that lists all the DODICs, NEWs, Categories, etc. Both of my battalions have had the books, which are actually interesting to look through - it's about the size of the one of the record books that you carry in your cargo pocket if you were to cut into thirds and stack it on top of each other. Why's he asking the question? If it's about air load planning, the BN HAZMAT certifier (who's probably the ammo guy) should know what restrictions there are for it.
