What, no mention of Gordy Dickson's "Tactics of Mistake", Mike? You can safely ignore most of the rest of the Dorsai series, but ToM is a true classic of asymetric warfare.

The first half or so of the Tactics of Mistake was indeed excellent, but the whole "psychic superman" stuff it worked into I found to be less appealing.

The second half of "Tactics of Mistake" can only be completely understood in the context of Dickson's entire Dorsai series. There is a reason that Dickson originally titled "Dorsai" as "The Genetic General". Without that it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Essentially what happens in ToM is one of the first steps in the evolution of the human race. That said, ToM is a great piece of military science fiction. The extension of the principles of direct/indirect warfare (Lidell Hart) and the integration with Sun Tzu's work is awesome and you can see how it would work, if only we could find ourselves a Cletus to do it.
