Subject: Would Undead soldiers be effective in combat?
Miles    2/27/2007 12:22:40 AM
SOldier that are like zombies, except they have a mind and act just like humans. But you shoot at them until your clips out and they will still be shooting back at ya. only problem is that you need a corpse to make one. would they be useful or would they just take too long to make?

Well, you didn't say how long they would take to make.  If it takes the same amount of time for an undead soldier to be created as for a platoon of regular soldiers to be trained then they would have to be more effective than a regular platoon to be time effective.

I think if violates the Zombie Principles (I just made that up) to have zombies with brains.  The whole point of zombies is that they are stupid. (brainssssssssss. . .).  If you have an intelligent zombie then basically all you've got is a super soldier by another name.

Besides, the fantasy of a physical thing which can be shot an infinite number of times with no decrease in combat effectiveness is laughable.  Like in Resident Evil 2 where the big, bad Nemesis thingie is being filled with lead but is totally unphased.  Even if he doesn't need a single internal organ to function he still needs his muscles and bones to move around and with that many bullets going through him his physical structure would be reduced to mush.  He might be concious but he'd be a concious pile of goo.

With all that being said, I think your idea was already used in Universal Soldier.  Weren't those guys dead before they were reanimated as unstoppable killing machines?
