How about a mononuclear battle lash-whip combo?

first, let's just clarify that the Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z are not reliable sources for anything. look on
link... and link... for discussions about their various problems. anyway, I think that runner zombies, like the ones in 28, wouldn't be attracted to hygien products, but repelled. they would think of the chemical smell as the olfactory equivalent of "white noise". amidst all the chaos, there will surely be lots of spilt chemicals from household cleaning products to industrial solvents. the Zombies would want to ignore this and seek the smell of animal or human flesh. if you were using hygein products, it would simply make you more comfortable at worst and invisible to their noses at best

Well as we are speaking imaginary creatures here the strongest reference is the creator of a certain zombie type. 28-types are drawn to hygiene product smell according to the creators of the franchise. This is demonstrated in 28 -comics that are - as far as I can remember - accepted as part of the "official story line". Check 'em up.

Hollywood always uses those types because they don't cast ordinary people, and do not apparently believe that they can adapt and survive by themselves, only wait for the government to come and rescue them.  Hollywood seems to believe only the oddballs and crazies can think for themselves and/or it takes a HUGE amount of preparation to adapt and survive.

Look at the real world and it is amazing how adaptable the average person is, and altruistic or cold blooded as needed.

Its more that it fit the kind of story they want to show, they want their shot with someone shooting at hundreds of zombies with automatic weapon, it looks good at the screen and men like the powertrip that come with weapons.

But I agree with you about the adaptativity of human species, we are so good at this that you can find human everywere on the planet. I came to believe that it would require a combinason of alot of  disaster to destroy humanity. we are freaking hard to kill as a species.

I don't doubt that it's justified in-universe. i was just saying what seems more likely.
