Subject: Wedding or smuglers
interrested 2    6/15/2004 6:59:34 AM
In HTWM there is a bit on the "wedding massacre"

Now when the US investigated the site, why don't they film it?
I would imagine that a good long film with the entire scene on it in detail would be a very handy thing to have for the investigator. Also for later analisys

So, do they use thse techniques?
If not....WHY?? They should!
...If so, why don;t they show the film they took? If would difuse the situation and make the journalists look like asses. :)

What am I not seeing?

films can be analyzed. We analyze every video released by al crudda and their idiot thug "brothers in arms". They do the same thing. aside from al jazeera, cnn is their favorite channel. if i show a video of the aftermath of an attack, the shell casings, bullet holes in tents/buildings, blown doorways, craters, bodies - it can all be looked at from the perspective of "how can we defend against this" and possibley cost lives. That's my read on it anyway, for what it's worth. E.

Come on! How can one defend itself from an air attack by looking at the video showing the damage.

You really think that there is a single person out there that doens't know you have AC130? Other than having some stingers around and a good surveillance system, you're defenseless. So what do oyu think we could learn? The reason I could think of is that the images would be to terrible. creating a backlash all the same

How much have you heard about this "wedding party" massacre lately? All we tend to hear about in the states is the "Abu Ghraib" situation. As such, there's no reason to release the footage taken at a nearly month-old bombing site, especially since the commotion over it died out pretty quick. Besides, the tape is likely classified or in the hands of the DIA/MI for analysis.

I really don't know what intel the terrorists might glean from a video - and I'm not willing to take the chance that by showing it we might help them. I don't need to see it. really. the soldiers on the ground, who represent me saw, recorded, and reported as far as circumstances allowed and I'm happy with that. What defense is there? from an AC-130, not much. important information that is not in the hands of the bad guys is 1. they don't know who lived or died 2. they don't know who is in custody and might be coughing up info... leading back to them. I've seen enough facts pointed to that I can reach a reasonable decision - and that is that this was not a wedding party, but a waystation for terrorist wanna bes. Now it's not. I like that. E.
