Subject: Help?? Modern Warefare in the Pacific/Asian mainland theatre of wwii?
kae    7/17/2003 12:18:22 AM
i am starting a school assignment, which requires me to research if there was an increase, or evolvement of warfare within the pacific and asian mainland theatre of wwii, to become what we know now as modern warfare.

If this is so i would appreciate any help with websites, books, films, or personal knowledge about this topic.

thank you for any help :)

If you're referring to battles of maneuvre involving armoured units, then the British reconquest of Burma would qualify under Field Marshall Slim (web search under Slim and Burma). The Soviet attack on Japanese troops in Manchuria in 1945 would also qualify. I had a quick look on the web for info, but didn't have much luck. If you get hold of books on the war against Japan, follow up any references that refer to that campaign. Am I right in assuming you're not interested in the US island hopping campaign?
