James Dunnigan mentioned getting the 80% of the Iraqi people who don't like saddam to 'rise up against' his murderous regime.
There are two major points here, one for, one against:
1. If the Iraqi people are willing and able to rise up and 'earn' their freedom by assisting our forces in ousting the barking mad pig smoking son of flubber, then any deaths incurred will be considered "blood watering the tree of liberty" - they will be 'martyrs' for a truly worthy cause - the freedom of a long-enslaved nation.
2. on the other hand, in the unlikely event that saddam and his monkeys prove a tougher nut for us to crack (like most alarmists currently believe), there may be an 'unacceptable' number of civilian casualties, should they rise up, and we take too long to get there and back them up.
Thoughts?
Should we wage the infowar, jamming his state propaganda machine with our messages to rise up and take their freedom? or should we just warn them to stay away from targets (which is usually what we do) I.E. "Stay away from military sites" or "don't go to work in the chemical factories today" sort of thing.
