Well, I don't see dropping conventional bombs over this, but we ought to at least prevent data from flowing to or from Chinese IP addresses.

Don't put sensitive information on the computers unless they are not connected to the Internet.

Impractical.
A doctor in his private practice needs to see Xrays that are located at a hospital.
An citizen at home wants to view his bank balance.
Amazon wants to be able to verify credit card numbers.
The Bank of America wants to access your credit rating.
A married citizen wants to chat by email with a mistress.
There is a lot of sensitive data out there that is needed constantly. The economy would collapse, medical care would suffer, and our lives in general would be much suckier without sensitive data being accessible from the internet.

^^ Above post is absolutely correct - it is virtually impossible to airgap everything - the levels of security for highly sensitive information need to be continually raised but goalposts are forever moving and very often the so-called experts on infosec are themselves behind the times in terms of technology and methodology.
Worst of all it requires enormous vigilance on the part of organisations and employees to maintain security protocols which typically slow everything down - screening everything (and everyone) near-continually - very often these are routinely bypassed - USB devices and high-speed connections mean that even a temporary blip can lead to GB of data being lost/stolen. Very often contractors and suppliers are located over multiple continents - imagine the speed of workflow if everything had to be delivered the old-fashioned way..

You can't possibly have a single corporate entity that is capable of producing the complete suite of components for any modern military system - microchips to wing assemblies to actuators to radars to missile seekers and jet engines - unless you believe in fairytales that is - you either have the Chinese model or the Western model.
