"Egyptian intelligence officials said they could not believe that fellow Moslems would attack other Moslems who were having the post-fast Ramadan meal." LOL to the max.

SP:
This self-destructive attitude by the Palestinians, who, officially, are seeking a peace deal with Israel, has been created by decades of anti-Israel propaganda within the Palestinian community (in the mass media and the schools).
This neocon idea is so stupid, only an intellectual could believe it. If anti-Israel propaganda is responsible for Pally hatred of Jews, why do Pallys in Israel also hate Jews? It's not as if Pallys in Israel don't get access to alternate sources of information. How is it that after four decades, Syrian Druze in the Golan have not taken up Israeli citizenship? It's got nothing to do with government propaganda - the problem is that prejudices are handed down from generation to generation, from father to son. Arab leaders who want to stay in power will parrot the prejudices of their populations. Any deviation from the popular orthodoxy will lead to charges that they are Zionist lapdogs by ambitious men in elite circles, who will use that excuse to overthrow them, with the support of the hoi polloi. Alternately, if the entire elite falls out with the hoi polloi on these issues, one of the hoi polloi will lead a popular insurrection against the elites over their treasonous conduct.

A recent poll inside egypt showed that less than 5% do believe this myth.
The vast majority thinks those myths are embarrassingly stupid.
In fact those ultra radical myths have as much backing inside the arab world as western white power myths.

Jew hatred in Islam is an essential foundation to the Islamic belief system that
Muslims cannot seem to be able to rid themselves of. Jew-hatred masks an
existential problem in Islam. Islam is terrified of the Jews, and the number-one
enemy of Islam is the truth.

Sigh. You are again mixing Religion with Politics. It is always insulting to paint everyone with the same brush. Newsflash: Not all Muslims are anti-Semites, just as not all Jews are Zionists. All extremists are dangerous: the victims of the Oklahoma city bomber and the dude in Norway are just as dead as those from 9/11, the handful of people killed by the 8,000 quassam rockets launched into Israel, and the women and children killed by the IDF in Iron Fist and the aftermath.
No one wins when hatred rules. No one.
Jew hatred in Islam is an essential foundation to the Islamic belief system that
Muslims cannot seem to be able to rid themselves of. Jew-hatred masks an
existential problem in Islam. Islam is terrified of the Jews, and the number-one
enemy of Islam is the truth.
