Subject: RE:Egyptian frogmen back in 1969: History anyone?

A couple of correctionsto the contetnts of the website john referred to.
1. The missile boats which destroyed the Eilat did not intercept it - they fired the missiles from the breakwater (thus evading detection on the Eilat's radar) at a range of 13-14 miles.
2. The Egyptian navy did not destroy the INS Dakar. It was lost in an accident near Crete.
3. The INS Tanin was not damaged by the Egyptian Navy.
4. Only the INS Bat-Galim was destroyed by the Egyptian commandos. Other ships were damaged but not seriously. An ex-serviceman told me the Navy were not too distressed over the loss of the Bat-Galim because it was an unarmed auxillary , not a warship, and no lives were lost in the attack.
