Subject: Training Iraqi security forces to use American tactics could compromise our national security
jonodavidson    8/5/2008 7:12:04 PM
American military forces use tactics that they develop in order to take advantage of our technological superiority when we engage an enemy force in battle. An enemy who is unaware of the various capacities we have to perform functions that would ordinarily seem impossible would not realize their own vulnerabilities. If we are training Iraqi and Afghanistan security forces to take over the responsibility for their own security in lieu of our own forces, then we are revealing capabilities we have been using to win our battles to the people whose countries we have conquered. We may as well say, 'Now that we have conquered your nation's forces, let me show you all the wonderful little toys we have that made it possible. I imagine that there are people who are looking for ways to neutralize our technological advantages in every way possible, and when we put these capacities on display for our defeated adversaries to consider the manner in which we marshal our forces to battle, our forces are bound to suffer for it in future battles. Any thoughts?

FJV    There are no "secret" tactics   8/6/2008 12:44:56 PM
The vast majority of tactics are known all over the word. There is just the hard work/training to make it second nature/automatic. It's the force that trains the hardest and smartest that will win.

Just google the internet for Field Manuals for instance. Or if you are interested in the terrorist's tactics google "the manchester document".

Of course the tactics the US trains varies:
- with the enemy they are fighting
- over time
- with technology making certain tactics obsolete while making other obsolete tactics feasible.

etc, etc.
