Subject: Al Qaeda In Iraq is going to get all Sunni's slaughtered or forced to flee
Pseudonym    11/18/2005 4:32:08 PM
The Sunni are going so far that I doubt the Shia will hold back when we leave. They want a religious war, and apparently they really mean it. The Sunni are so so screwed. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10091543/ "Scores killed as Iraq mosques, hotel targeted Shiite mosques filled with worshippers; hotel housed media, including NB BAGHDAD, Iraq - Suicide bombers killed 74 worshippers at two Shiite mosques near the Iranian border Friday while in Baghdad two car bombs destroyed the blast wall protecting a hotel housing international journalists, including those with NBC News, and killed eight Iraqis. The suicide attackers targeted the Sheik Murad mosque and the Khaniqin Grand Mosque in Khanaqin, 90 miles northeast of Baghdad, as dozens of people were attending Friday prayers, police said. Seventy-five people were wounded in addition to the 74 killed, the police command said. Other news reports suggested the death toll could be as high as 100. The blasts near the Hamra hotel in Baghdad knocked down the concrete walls protecting the hotel and blew out windows but did no structural damage to the hotel. However they brought down several other buildings and left a large crater in the road. Firefighters and U.S. troops joined residents in digging through the debris for victims."

" The Sunni are so so screwed" How so? They managed to control the Shia population for hundreds of years even though they were outnumbered. They are richer and more ruthless then the Shia, they are betting they can sufficently cowe the Shia into submission after the US leaves, though even if they don't win there will be plenty of blood spilled. But this was a foreseeable consquence of invading and occupying a country with a history of sectarian strife, and on it goes....

You really think the Shia, let alone the Kurds, are going to take any more Sunni sh**? LOL. The Sunni are screwed, they murder their countrymen instead of using diplomacy to gain favorable conditions. Now they have no power, have lost all their oil money, and their enemies have taken over and already have a MASSIVE advantage. The Sunni are so so screwed. They should never have started killing other Iraqi's.

"this was a foreseeable consquence of invading and occupying a country with a history of sectarian strife, and on it goes...." Hardly a consequence of our occupation as the enmity between the two was always VERY present. BTW, look into Mesopotamian history far enough and you'll find Shia rulers with an agenda as well.

The smart Sunnis will realize that their only hope is to condemn the insurgents and side with the government. The stupid ones are going to die. We can only hope that the stupid ones don't take too many good people out with them when they do. I don't like it either, but there it is.

"Hardly a consequence of our occupation as the enmity between the two was always VERY present." Sorry I don't recall the suicide or car bombs during the 1990s in Iraq, there was some sembalance of peace between the two groups after 1991. Sure there were assiassnations and Saddam's death squads and the like but nothing akin to the 1,200+ car bombs that have gone off in the last two and a half years. The Shi'ites have yet to prove their meetle against the Sunni--true their governemnt hasn't collapsed but they haven't done a very good job of fighting the insurgents either. If it is true that they are handcuffed by the US presence, and will unleash their fury on the Sunnis when we leave it is also true that those Sunnis who are fence sitting in the hopes of a compromise will back their brethen when they are attacked. That logic works both ways. If you are so confident of a Shi'ite victory why not back the House proposal to withdraw US troops Pseudonym?

Yep, you Americans caused all of the suicide bombs. All of the car bombs. You let or cause (depends what day of the week it is) the terrorists to exist and to target mosques with bomb hidden in schools before they hide in hospitals. If you think that's bad, you just wait and see what you cause when you leave. Or let happen.

America is the occupying power in Iraq recognized by the UN thus they are responsible for the security of that country under international law. They did not cause the car bombs but they cannot prevent them from happening. These things could have/ should have been forseen and measures could have/should have been taken to prevent them---building an international consensus, increasing American troop levels, cutting a deal with Turkey to allow the 4ID entry from the north, not disbanding the Iraqi army, not allowing the looting, etc. The highest estimate I have seen is that Saddam Hussein killed 300,000 Iraqis in his 24 years in power. That averages 34 per day. The best estimate I have seen is that 30,000 Iraqis have been killed through political violence since the US invaded and occupied Iraq. This is an average of 32 per day, so it seems like nothing has really changed in Iraq. It is a way of life that Iraqis kill Iraqis. The political process ends next month and every other country in Iraq has or will draw down their forces, yet the violence will continue. Yes if the US pulls out there will be more bloodshed, but there will also be a victor.

What about all the men Saddam lost in his wars? Does his stupidity not count, or since it is not him directly murdering do they count less? Those dead by sanctions do they matter? You don't care about the truth Herodotus, you are looking to embarass us, that is all. Your "idea" of research is quite pathetic.
