Subject: Americans must respect Islam
salaam al-aqaaid    5/13/2004 10:18:35 AM
The outrageous atrocities commited by Americans at the Abu al-Grayyib prison complex speaks to a need for the United States Americans to give sensetivity training to its entire military so that they will no longer offind Muslims with the contemptious use of women as prison guards and unsavery adiction to homosexual pornographies. These things are offinsive to the Muslims community. Have you no shame? You must remove all women and homosexuals from contact with Muslim prisoners. This is offinsive.

>>LOL. Set myself up for that one. Hey, AK is the one with long hair so he gets to be Marie, okay?<< I must warn you that the first thing I test on combat simulator games is to see if wingmen can be shot at. ;-)

For give me if I quote from Bill Gunston... "As for the fighter, this was based on the formidable Messesschmitt Bf 109G, but because no DB 605 engines were available the Czechs put it into production with a different engine and propeller that converted several poor characteristics into sheer murder. Combined with badly engineered and unreliable systems, notably the synchronizing gear for the fuselage guns, the Avia S 199 was undoubtedly more dangerous to its pilots than to its enemies. Few lasted more than a few weeks, but in that time the small number of combat sorties that were possible at least demonstrated that the infant Chel Ha'Avir was growing small teeth." An Illustrated Guide to the Israeli Air Force - by Bill Gunston 1982 Salamander books. The Israelis also used large numbers of Mauser Kar98k rifles by the thousands, (and many other types of former Nazi small arms as well), in 1948, from numerous sources. Many of which remain in reserve stocks to this day. === So Cid was there in 48 huh? ..., CL.

...was there in 48. A 14 year old boy then, he was put on a rooftop with a Mauser and tod to shoot "down" any aircraft he saw. He wet his pants, but waited 2 days and nights to be relieved. I promised my mother I would never beat a noggin that was already scrambled, so I can't remark on others that claim to have been there.

That was apparently plenty dangerous itself.

I would think the Ghurka's are needed in Nepal at the moment...

A dozen people can read the same scripts, and 11 of them easily take it out of context. It's no different in ANY religion. It's all one gigantic puzzle (blind men and the elephant?), and only when we put aside petty selfish pride and work together will we begin to see the picture as a whole. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I agree here. In fact, I quite like the old saying that circulates around theological circles that 'a text out of context is a pretext'. In otherwords, when viewed in isolation all kinds of horrible things can be justified using religious texts. I think it gets easier when you realise that any religion, political party, or organisation has its liberal and authoritarian elements. This is why an authoritarian muslim and christian have more in common with each other in the way in which they view the world (I am right and everyone else is going to hell) than morderate or liberals in their own faith system. The unshakable believe that you are right, and that your interperations of history, religious texts, the world etc are the correct ones, are usually followed closely with the view that God, fate, or time has personally sanctioned how you treat your fellow human beings. Authoritarianism is an addictive system. Once entrenched in a culture it is hard to shift. I really believe that authoritarianism is its own religion, and the devil is its God.

Poor Nepal can't do much of anything. The pathetic spectacle is France scrambling to negotiate. Chirac has the capability to set a better precedent; the French can be very brutal when it comes to taking out terrorists. I'm still hoping that behind the scenes he is taking action. If he can't do it in the name of his own citizens, he should do it on behalf of poor Nepal.
