Subject: Americans must respect Islam
salaam al-aqaaid    5/13/2004 10:18:35 AM
The outrageous atrocities commited by Americans at the Abu al-Grayyib prison complex speaks to a need for the United States Americans to give sensetivity training to its entire military so that they will no longer offind Muslims with the contemptious use of women as prison guards and unsavery adiction to homosexual pornographies. These things are offinsive to the Muslims community. Have you no shame? You must remove all women and homosexuals from contact with Muslim prisoners. This is offinsive.

scholar    RE:researched it?: back at you, scholar   8/31/2004 3:48:54 PM
Doggtag, I do follow Biblical archaeology somewhat. I've been reading up on that ossuary they found. It seems that there is zero data about Jesus and his family outside the New Testament, which is why they're so exicted about the ossuary, for it would be the first and only (although at the moment it seems to be a fraud, but the jury's still out). There may have been other evidence; lots of archival material has been lost through the ages. But there isn't any available now. I don't think the lack of evidence means you should or should not believe anything. But I wonder what kind of data people can use to propose alternate theories about Jesus' family since the only data we have comes from the New Testament. Or are there other documents out there that are considered credible? At best they can do a very sophisticated critical study of a set of texts, the way the Bible critics do with their J, E, P, and D stuff. But even the best such theory is highly speculative since, like I said, there's almost no outside data that corroborates or disproves. Faith if fine; I don't quarrel with faith.

doggtag    serve your neighbor   8/31/2004 3:54:30 PM
"...bound to serve your neighbor, wether or not they believe in the Quran." Funny how closely that resembles the christian bible's "love thy neighbor." What's even more interesting, is that there is just as much "love thy neighbor, support the poor and sickly, and share one's blessings with others, in all the major religions... just as much as there is also argument suggesting not to keep company with those who don't share your views and beliefs and condemn your religion. A dozen people can read the same scripts, and 11 of them easily take it out of context. It's no different in ANY religion. It's all one gigantic puzzle (blind men and the elephant?), and only when we put aside petty selfish pride and work together will we begin to see the picture as a whole. The Divine is many different things to many different people, but that doesn't mean a person is any less valuable because they personally favor christianity's ideals over islam's or buddhism's. For a person to truly find peace, harmony, compassion, and contentment in the world, they have to find it in themselves first (Akira's dragon?)..

doggtag    S 199s?   8/31/2004 4:25:33 PM
Weren't the Avia S 199s built by a Czech company, at a FORMER German-controlled (WW2) factory? Even if a German design (a vastly improved Bf 109), technically the factory was in Czech hands, wasn't it? I am aware though that the Israeli Navy possessed several FACs built by German yards (as well as the subs. And I'm curious there as to the suggestion that Israeli subs have nuke-tipped Harpoons among their weapons compliment, with Iran as possible target...).

I'm Bing Crosby to AK's Bob Hope. Haven't you seen the running jokes?.

LOL. Naw, the wingman bit is something I'm trying to turn into a running gag. CL had some friends sign onto SP or a day or so, and one of them identified himself as CL's wingman(then it turned out he had multiple wingmen as it was an online gamming group that showed up.). Then scholar said something about OW having a wingman too. Why not keep it going? It's funny..

I like the Crosby/Hope image. I was thinking more Donny and Marie.

LOL. Set myself up for that one. Hey, AK is the one with long hair so he gets to be Marie, okay?.

Bro, please don't take this harshly, okay? People have been poking you with sticks over religion and you might be quick on the trigger hence you get the preamble. My fear was that you were going to go the Dan Brown "DaVinci Code" or Umberto Eco route. Luckily you didn't. But, I must say that those who propogate the Holy Grail as Christ's bloodline are rather fringish. There've been books written recently speaking directly to this subject. I haven't read them and so I can't/won't recommend any. Skepticism is fine as it shows an active, reasoning mind. Cynicism seems to be the refuge of the perpetually discontent..

"Militants kill 12 Nepal hostages - One man apparently beheaded, 11 shot in head" It's Ghurka time.
