Subject: Assuming England Conquered by Nov. 1940, What About Iceland?
S-2    10/31/2005 12:47:31 PM
Assuming the timely conquest of England by Germany, could the Germans conquer, exploit to good purpose, defend, and supply Iceland? You define the assorted variables to consider that assist or impede your arguments, but there appears some potential for a discussion. As Thomas pointed out, by March, 1941, U.S. forces were in Keflavik and Reykjavik.

Er, Factfinder, if you are concerned about abuse & personal attack, it's best not to issue them as you did above. As to Sea Lion, Doveton & associates were the attackers & I was alone. As to my arguments, in reality the data posted by myself was from authors & participants in the buildup prior to Sea Lion, not "my arguments". Doveton did take a plastering & he & his followers then took issue with myself is how that went. A good chuckle you have provided mentioning he hammered my posted data. It's an entirely different thread & has no place here & again, if you are not a fan of abuse & insults, please refrain from issuing them as you did above is the correct form.

As to your question, yes Wegener & Raeder had issues.

Raeder would describe Wegener and two other officers training with him as "my intimate friends." (3) By the end of their naval careers, however, the two admirals were to become inveterate inveterate  enemies. So great would be their enmity that upon Admiral Wegener's death in 1956, Raeder, who was the senior surviving member of their enlistment "crew" refused to deliver his eulogy, as was the normal tradition of their service. (4)

Where exactly have I used abuse and personal attack. I simply replied to an individual called Hamilcar trying to clear up a mis-understanding.

Obviously,. I had come across the name of Black Hornet on another site, and having read the whole of the section on Sealion on that site I concluded (as I am sure did anyone else who read it) that Doveton had far the better of the argument, largely because Black Hornet tended to resort to abuse and insults, rather than reasoned debate, let alone coherant responses to the arguments Doveton made.

I note that, on the MFP discussion section of this site, Black Hornet has already resorted to insults.

If this is typical of this site, that I fear that to participate on it further would be a fruitless exercise.
