| How could you say we are full of ourselves? Listen, I live in Canada and I have to deal with Canada throwing it's "glory" at my face everyday. Everywhere I go, no matter where, I would see a few hundred Canadian flags. How many flags do you need to outline an A&P supermarket? How many do we need in the schools? In my school we had 2 in every room. We sang O-Canada every morning. On most advertisments they say "canadians", Why can't they just say people? In England I never see advertisments saying,"British". In schools in Britain they aren't even allowed to sing the national anthym in schools. I haven't seen a British flag anywhere but in my uncles house and at an embassy, and Rebok. There are many restrictions in Britain, because they think it is nationalistic! Canada is trying too hard to be patriotic. No one I know is patriotic in canada, and you know what they blame that on? It gets boring seeing your flag everywhere you look, singing you national anthym everymorning, pressure from the government emphasising being a canadian! They say it's too common, and it is losing meaning. Yet they still try so hard and just keep getting more self-centred trying to make it look like no where else is as good as Canada.
I hope you take back your comment about us trying too hard, because we have to struggle to show our patriotism when you are encouraged! You just don't appreciate it.
I'll admit that we have some minor problems with funding (it's mainly our elected government's fault), but who doesn't? the u.s is having trouble funding it's military! I'm very sure Canada is having extreme difficulties funding it's military. |
