Herc the Merc    9/12/2006 6:39:31 PM
To be civilized and in step Democracy is the current Mantra of governance, everybody mistrusts China because it is not democratic but powerful.
How did democracy come about in various countries and sustain through its challenges?? Russia flipped the switch pretty quick others do not get it.

I don't believe so.

Democracy is the result, not the reason in the history. Democracy itself doesn't make any country better, it has been proved.

How exactly has this been proven?

Iraq is the prove for today. It's a free and democratic country now, as Bush siad. And you know democracy itself doesn't work and coundn't make anything better.

There is another example, Philippine, the first democratic model country set up by US 50 years ago. Today it's nobody's model.

How exactly has this been proven?

Iraq is not a democracy nor is it very free.  Religious fundamentalists are in power; women's rights have been reversed, ethnic rights are not honored, politcal violence prevails, there is no rule of law, different sections of the country are governed by different (and unelected) factions.  It is a big problem.

"everybody mistrusts China because it is not democratic but powerful."

China's power lies in its ability to make trouble, not take a leadership role.  China is also thin skinned, paranoid, xenophobic and has a desperate government armed with nukes, bio and chem weapons and an inferiority complex.  Those are reasons to fear China.

As for pointing out the Philipines as a failed democracy, they are also fighting a long time civil war against Commie and muslim terrorists.  but yet they still have more social stability than bad, dirty, crazy China.

Where are the successful totalitarian nations?  Oh, there are none, and most are filthy with desperate people too.

How about SK, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia...and India?

Jealous, red faced China.
