or they simply don't have a clue. link A C802 missile carries more than 300lbs explosive payload, which will immediately sink any Israeli patrol missile ship. They just don't have a clue how they were hit.

Like most ASuW missiles, it probably hit, and its warhead didnt detonate... How many times has this happened?

From all news sources, it did exploded. Israel simply makes some fake news to drag Iran in, it looks like.

300lb of explosive is not enough to sink a corvette. More than one WWII USN DEs, which are about 2000t displacement, was hit by more than one Kamakaze, and not all of them were sunk. And it took 2 Styx missles to sink Eilat. That's 2000lb of HE. It depends on where the missle hit the ship. HMS Shefield was hit head on and caused damage and fire across the whole superstructure, which made it unable to put the fire off and has to be abandoned. It burnt for several days before hull structure surrendered to heat and finally sunk. Her sister ships, HMS Coventry was hit by 3 bombs and sunk, while HMS Glasgow was hit by 1 bombs and made her way back to England. USS Stark was hit by 2 Iraqi Exocet during Iran-Iraq War. One of the missile hit crew quarter and caused serious damage and fire, and the ship lost power and balance. However, the ship was saved by her crew and USS Stark was back on duty next year. HMS Glamorgan, a even smaller ship, was also hit by an Exocet but made her way back to England on her own power. The missle hit HMS Glamorgan's hanger. Because it hit the hanger, so the ship can be saved by her crew. However, the explosion obviously knocked out the ship's power system, which is reasonable because Saar 5 is a small corvette.

Wow, another Egyptian vessel was sunk nearby. What a coincidence! Wait a minute, it IS a missile attack, since guidance algorithm doesn't do identification.

It totally depends on how big the ship is and how strong the armor it has. It could be a missile, but impossible a C802, simply the missile is not for this class. It's a BS idiot to argue for that even.

The C-802 is pretty much the same size, has the same flight performance, and has exactly the same size warhead as an MM40 Exocet. Several warships have taken hits from one or more Exocet missiles in the past and survived. The damage it could cause to even something as small as a Sa'ar V would vary widely depending on how the missile hit and whether the missile actually detonated its warhead. Supposedly, the damage was pretty severe and the ship was at risk of sinking for a time until the fires caused by the missile were put out. There is no reason to doubt that this was a C-802. On the other hand there is just about no way this was a simple ballistic rocket attack. If some Hisbollah spokesman said it was "a rocket" it is more likely the spokesman simply doesn't know anything about missiles and just called it "a rocket". Incidentally, someone asked earlier: the ship that was hit is the Hanit.

C-802 has the exactly same size payload as Exocet, and one single shot, even without explosion, sunk the HMS Sheffield, a 5000 ton destroyer. All ships ever hit by Exocet or C802 got server damage. A small ship like this Israeli one can not survive by only losing 4 crews and caused some burning damage, if hit by C802 and exploded.

Reportedly the missile struck the craft at or near the helicopter landing ?bullseye.? I would expect that 150 kg exploding there would set the avgas bunker ablaze and invade the engineering areas unless the engines are housed closer amidship. My Google-ing didn?t yield any SAAR 5 schematics. Somebody care to direct me? v^2

This Israel ship, Sa'ar 5-class missile boat, is only less than 1,300 tons. It will break a record if hit by C802, with a 165kg warhead, that it is the slightest damage ship, and smallest ship ever hit by Exocet class missiles. What a BS idiot joke
