A hypothetical that in actuality would be more likely to happen to the Israelis if they let down their guard. I think you have that backwards.
One can only say that payback's a bitch for all the terror attacks since 1927 launched with cries of Death to the Yehudi from the Arabs. Seeing that over all that time, the vast majority of attacks have been against the Jewish population of the Mandate, while the Brits stood still or actually encouraged the Arabs, and then following the creation of the Israel the fedayeen attacks began, thru the attacks of Arafat (laughable that someone would claim that Arafat actually Restrained terrorist attacks, while he was in control and directing them), to the Hamas and Islamic Jihad-created homicide bomber, I dont have much sympathy for the Palestinians.
There's an old saying that you gets what you pays for, and that applies to the kind of govermment and leadership that one selects. That the Palestinians selected by an overwhelming majority an organization dedicated to the elimination of the state of Israel and to kill all the Jews says volumes about the twisted ethos of the PALI society. Apologists will claim that they were REALLY voting to get rid of the oorruption and malfeasance of the PLO, but that is a canard.
If I were an Israeli, I would take the Hamas charter seriously; to not do so risks an existential threat to their peril.
If the PALIS dont act like a responsible government and the attacks on Israel continue, then the Israelis have EVERY legal right under the UN Charter to use any level of force - up to and including the leveling of Gaza a la Grozny, to ensure the protection of THEIR country.
swhitebull - if the PALIS refuse to act like civilized people, they should be put down like rabid dogs. Bottom line.
