sure basin....as the .50 cals bounced off all those iron crosses:):) (though in the late 44, 90% were not quality...most of those had been killed over the previous 3-5yrs)

If it's American football, then USMC will win. If it's succer, then the legionaire will win. If it's a bar fight, then it's hard to tell.

We need around $4000 a month just to raise a small family. How could anyone get by on $1300 a month?

$1300 is almost the legal minimum wage in france and a lot of family lives with only that. It's easier in france to survive with that kind of money due to the social Policies currently in use. (no need to pay a lot of money for decent education, medical care are all payed by the state, don't have to place money for retirement etc... )

The pay is not so generous, but the Leginaires have not really the opportunities to spend it.... In fact, the life in the Legio is more spartian than in the USMC (and that's the main criticism I could do on US armed forces overseas... too much comfort make the skin soft like your daughter's one) So, regarding the tough way of life in the Legio, and the fact that joining the FFL requires far more will than to be recruited in the USMC, I think that, Soldier Vs.
