Subject: If the US Marine Corps, and the French Foreign Legion had a battle, which side would win?
Republican    1/1/2006 4:03:01 AM
I think the Corps would win, but both sides are tough as nails.

well gv, the good thing about this country that people around the world hate, and the fact that the french have because of the united states and britian, is the freedom to state ones opinion. In addition, within the limits of reason and using tact where/when appropiate, it is perfectly acceptable to state on a DISCUSSION site your about 'whatever.' In this case, it moved to the relm of the french performance in WW1. The french did do some things good and had some good battles, but overall, they could not defeat germany. Fact. If your insecure, thats between you and your psychiatrist. France could not defeat germany WITH britian's help. Fact. we wont go into WW2. As far as disrespecting the French flag? I could careless. In a broad term(not applying to all French) The country sucks. I was impressed when over 10,000 old people died during the recent/past heatwave. In the united states, the equiv. would be about 48000. That is disgusting. The world condemns us for our past slavery(like the other europeans never had it)and other social problems in the 50s and early 60s. OK, that was 40-50 yrs ago......lets talk about today...what just recently happened in France-A huge fire sale on automobiles. I wonder why. For such a 'socially enlightened' country, that is a mighty black eye for the yr 2005/2006. Yeah, I love France, esp. when a good number of its citizens said we deserved 9-11. How many french authors and editors wrote books/columns about some fantasy BS about 9-11? I know of a 'few' Most of those who blamed the us, the gov. the people, or the "JEWS" were from muslim countries. Nice a large chunk of it came from our ally france. All the while FRANCE, germany, and russia were secretly breaking UN resolutions(they voted to implement ironically) to sell SH/Iraq wpns and other tech. and other areas when it came to the oil for food program. Then talking trash on the us for invading Iraq(weither you agree with it or not) The French gov did not oppose it, for say, moral reason. It was for GREED. It was so that they duplicity would not be discovered. Then you have the overwhelming arrogance of the many French........ I can go on and on and one, but you get my point.... I will never burn the us flag, but If I have the choice of toilet paper and the French flag, I think you can guess what I would use first. My french is probably as good as your english, so per your last line sport: Baisez-vous a, vous l'imbecile ignorant.

Barbara Tuchman's book "Guns of August" is somewhat dated, but its extremely readable. It covers the first month of World War One dealing with the military plans and the clash of the huge European armies of the period. You could read it in the gym between sets of Bench Presses.

dude, cool the hatred. there are nationalities that i hate but this is not the place to take it out on them or even scores. JIMF and i could clog up these boards with angry rants about Lichtenstein and how Lichtensteiners have ruined our lives and marriages but we keep a lid on it... we bite our tongues. i suggest you try the same.

I'm on my way out of here to start a three day weekend and you had to mention those vile, backstabing, foulmouthed, untrustworthy, Lichtensteiners. Nice little quaint country my a$$.

joke. I've learned that sarcasm doesn't work on this board. On the other hand I guess it could be done. You mentioned that you are into powerlifting, which usually means a couple of minutes rest between sets, so it could be done. In a gym it would be difficult though.

It could be done, but when I step into the gym I turn into a animal and start banging my head into the wall between sets :) (Joking, of course)
