This is the mood in the Fighters forums so I thought I would just declare war here instead. C'mon all you armchair generals, who wins this fight?

Sam you need to prove yourself before you make a dumd statement like that. That is not a 2LT Cover. And obviously, I wasnt a Ranger at the time of that Photo. The Bradley pictures are from a live fire training I gave my scout platoons. I actually enjoyed directly participating in EVERY training excersice with my troopers. What they did, I did first. I eat, sleep, fight, drink, get busted because of, train, live with, get hurt with, go to the field with, deploy with and if necessary die with my troops. There is no shame in an officer hauling heavy ass TOWs around. And the Close up with the 40th Div Patch is the interior of an M1 Abrams COFT trainer at Ft. Knox. I have trained USMC Officers, Jordanian Officers who use M60s, Germans who use Leos, and Ukrainians who use Russian T series. Also Yemeni and Argentine Officers too! All in Armor/Cavalry warfare. I have the best tank gunners anywhere, actually had at the time, who have all participated in these various joint training excercise. When we taught officers it was never oriented on specific equipment, they learned on our gear. Dont try the sorry tactic of discrediting the NG either. I have spent more time deployed in the NG than most Active duty. In addition to my active duty assignments. P.S. You are a low individual to continue to question my service in light of current times. If you had actually ever been in combat or even in the USMC I doubt that you would insult an Officer or Enlisted of any Branch or Service who served honorably. Now I have gone out of my way to remain polite and even provide a little personal information for the benefit of those who had doubts. You may doubt my plan which is fine. But you continue to be negative and insulting. Also you cannot counter my plan. You dont even have the courage to try. When you become an officer or senior NCO then you can talk to me about plans. Otherwise you are an antogonist only out to win a silly cyber-popularity contest. A little advice for you Sam, grow up.

"Fire commands! Funny. In combat its more like..."Shoot that MF now"!" Really? I only ask, because that sounds more like panic than discipline.

Trust me, when you get shot at the first time, discipline is a relative thing! You have to restore order of course. But I have to admit a few botched fire commands from yours truly. Tank Gunnery Training is a lot different than an actual Tank or BMP. After things settle down then you get a little more calm and back into character. Its funny because I would sometimes get the pilots to take me on leaders recons before Route recon missions and those guys are so calm. Until they get spooked or shoot at something. Then its "whoo-hoo", "yee-hah", "oh sh*t" or "got him"! I just tell it like it is. Sometimes thats a lot different than in training.

put the oil shoe on the other foot for a minute gix. what happens when american pipelines and refineries start going boom, the canadians shut off their lines along with the lines from alaska and the hydro lines, and the EU announces they will torpedo any tanker approaching the US. a couple aip or nuke boats would be sufficient to either cut off the oil tankers or more likely make the insurance premiums so high it's not worth it. been a long time since the us public felt any shortages much less actual privation. i think it likely they would lynch anyone interfering with their god given right to get 12 mpg etc. think back to 73 and the joy that was over the price going up.

"Trust me, when you get shot at the first time, discipline is a relative thing!" Trust me, if that's the way your troopers react on the battlefield, they are either untrained or have no faith in their leaders. I have been in five recognized combat zones leading troops in four of them and never did I see a breakdown of discipline in the initial(or subsequent) engagements. Lot's of uncontrolled crying, puking, shaking, high-fiving and trash talking afterwards, but never anything but ARTEP standard performance during the engagements. Maybe it's just the difference between Infantry and armor.

How is this fictional war supposed to start anyway? From what I gather from the posts I have read, American relations with the EU go down hill, and then America suddenely attacks? Surely in such circumstances other allienaces would also be brought into play, for instance the Commonwealth.

Dont get me wrong about discipline. We never turned into savages. But 18-19 year olds have a tendancy to get hyper the first time. We are not robo warriors. Sh*t I certainly wasnt the first time I got shot at. In fact it took a supreme gut check to get back into the fight. But I did and nobody got hurt. So all I'm saying is if a tank plt was on patrol. And some how a bunch of trees suddenly fell over and out comes a bmp on your flank firing. Its normal to fumble a fire command as you try to button up slew the turret from the TC position to get the gunner on target. All before that 73mm gets an accurate shot off! Very scary. But then you gotta pull yourself together, shoot, move and communicate. Oh and there is nothing closer than 4 men in an M1. Well maybe the Bradley is a little, no a lot more cramped. But you get to know each other pretty well. "oh S#$t bimps, from my position...on the way...BOOOOM!!!....Target!" Really translates to a fire command until everybody calms down.

Excitement is understandable, I've seen guys wet themselves without even realizing it while performing flawlessly, but losing discipline gets people killed and missions failed.
