According to the CIA and other Intelligence Services (European, Asian, African) this is the tally - based on a Combination of Manpower, Technology, Firepower, Training, Resources, Available Reserves, and Nuclear Potential (Current or Likely): 1. USA 2. China 3. Germany 4. India 5. France 6. Russia 7. UK 8. Italy 9. Israel 10. Pakistan

Britain has become an appendage of the USA forsaking Europe to impress a former colony. It's all part of the illusion of being a Great Power. Eventually they will have to decide to which side of the Atlantic they belong. As for Britain being the number 1 economy in Europe (Gross GDP) - Britain will NEVER surpass Germany. The best it can hope for is equality with France and Italy.

We do not agree on many aspects i.e. Israel but doesn?t mean we are EQUAL partners in many projects like GCHQ/NSA and the JSF to name but two of many and in stark contrast France?s pathetic, isolationist dreams of grandeur and domination of Europe that is impossible as long as the UK exists. It is ignorant people like you who go and do petty, spiteful things like desecrating a Commonwealth graveyard in Gaza on the pretence of false photos of British troops abusing Iraqis. -Get your facts right in future, According to the World Bank and the Governments official statistics office, The UK economy grew at a average 3.5%+ for the last 18 months in contrast to Germany?s 0.2% over the same period with negative growth in the first two quarters of 2003. Is mathematically impossible to say the UK will not overtake Germany at some point as this is a chronic problem for Germany and the UK economy is already larger than that of France and Italy who have modest growth rates in comparison to the UK.

How embarrassing to just findout that France and Italy are behind the U.K... I find from various comments from Europeans on Britain that Britain is almost the "scum" of Europe. Sometimes I chuckle consistently when I read such "fantasy" from Europeans.

The issue I think is how will the European Union fare in comparison to the US. I think that the next decade will be crucial and I also think that the Golden Age of the USA has passed.

I'm am confused with your logic and state of mind Artidi. I'm darn sure that Italy nor France has the same capabilities militarily as Britain. Atleast Britain can take rocks unlike eveyone but the U.S (and France isn't too far behind). Also You are name calling and you started this argument with "The most Britain can hope for is to be equal to Italy and France" What is your logic for that statment? Also this isn't the first time you have sparked an argument, no one (including the Brits on this board) have talked bull about Italy until you came along with your Anti-Brit garbage. Also I don't see your point on the sun has set the British Empire, I'm wondering honestly wondering what this has to do with anything discussed on this thread. All you have done recently is display your "fantasy" of a helpless Britain instead of giving logical explanations besides "Britain can only hope to be an equal to Italy and France" bull...
