According to the CIA and other Intelligence Services (European, Asian, African) this is the tally - based on a Combination of Manpower, Technology, Firepower, Training, Resources, Available Reserves, and Nuclear Potential (Current or Likely): 1. USA 2. China 3. Germany 4. India 5. France 6. Russia 7. UK 8. Italy 9. Israel 10. Pakistan

over rated where? in france lol Man, if you want to go down that road france is over rated. So far the only nations i see commited are U.S U.K and Canada and even Australia. What has Britain not done that france has done in recent years? What other country can stand up and say they have acheived britaian's success and commitments? Can France? I haven't been on this site in almost 3 or even 4 months, I jsut got my computer, as my other one crashed and is now usless, so I can't remembver if you are a Frenchmen or not Artidi, but thats what I am assuming...

"The UK is overrated. Always has been. Overrrated Politically, Economically, and Militarily" -Whatever nation you are from, I feel that you possess a sort of spitefulness towards the UK and most probably the whole of Western Europe if not the West itself. Are you an anti-capitalist or something? I struggle to see how you how can justify the claims you have made about the United Kingdom, based on present facts or historically and thus I find them to be fuelled from personal resentment. -In a Nutshell? : Politically, for setting up modern parliamentary democracy in as diverse places as Canada and Malaysia and for actually being the World?s oldest modern democracy? For establishing the largest Empire the world has ever seen which established the roots of modern Globalisation and brought together the cultures of the planet, for establishing Capitalism through mainly the East India Company? (Consult Niall Ferguson?s ?Empire, How Britain Made the Modern World? for more conclusive evidence) : Economically, I?m afraid being the 4th largest economy in the World and having sustained growth that outpaces any other country in the G7 is something not to be argued with, not to mention that with current projections, the UK will become the largest economy in Europe. Arithmetic and basic Numbers cannot be argued with. : Militarily, Having the second largest and certainly the second most capable Navy on Earth? Having one of the largest defence expenditures in NATO? Having the world?s second largest and most capable projection capabilities (UKAF) as well as the Naval and Airborne investments in such procurements as the Bay Class LPD (A)?s, the A-400M and C-17? Generally the best trained, organised and disciplined forces on the planet by using the historic regimental system? One of the best, if not the best equipment and up coming systems on the planet: Challenger II MBT, Apache Longbow, Type 23/45 Frigates/Destroyers, Triton FSC, CVF, AS90, SHAR, Harrier GR.7/9, Eurofighter Typhoon and the F-35, ALARM, AM/SRAAM etc?? -I?m sure further compelling evidence can be seen in the legacy of well-trained, disciplined and successful campaigns the British Armed Forces have fought in since World War II at least, from Korea to the Gulf.

India operates in a much more complex and dangerous situation than France, and any comparison would be futile. A man who lives on a frontier ranch defending his family day and night from raiders and rivals is going to be in a different league from a dude who sits with his sports rifle in his porch and smokes his pipe all day long.

What has the civilian population got to do with the army? Are you arguing about a top rate militia? It counts for nothing, as the majority of fire arms are illegal in Britain, yet we still churn out excellent soldiers.
