Subject: Prince Harry In Afghanistan
giblets    2/28/2008 12:33:08 PM
Prince Harry has been fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, apparently he has been there the last 10 weeks, although an American website has broken the press blackout, so he has resumably been taken out.
But good to see he has been doing his bit. And great that he got his way.

Which thus endangers his life as well as those men in his unit to a much greater extent.  At least he was about to head home in a few weeks anyway, are they going to pull them out early?

Yes. On the mod website (www.mod.uk).

From what I can see, the Drudge website was a trigger that sent the British Media off.
Is it really that much of a reputable source that once supposition was posted there it was a done thing?

Reputable is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose, but his stuff is usually pretty solid.  Matt Drudge is definitely a political conservative, but he's broken a few important news stories based upon reliable, irrefutable sources.  It's kind of a shame that the news of the young prince's deployment to Afghanistan forced the MoD to cut his tour short, but you have to admit that it's a newsworthy story.  I think most of us in the States admire Harry for his willingness to deploy with his men and fight for his country's interests far away from his comfortable life in Britain.  Harry may have gained a reputation as a party boy, but his service in Afghanistan proves that he is a credit to the royal family and his country.

Drudge is, by and large, a rumor mill.

That being said when a story breaks there that ends up not being true it is taken off VERY fast so in that regard you can say its semi-reputable.  Just be sure that what you reference from there stays up a while or gets validated by other sources before taking it as fact.

Drudge gained fame by breaking the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.

Way to go, Prince.  Drudge is a total embarssement, to anyone who respects the freedom of the  indivual.  I've many stronger words, but ahole is a start.
