If the Jihadist try to assassinate the Pope, or attack The Vatican, and The Pople declares a Holy Crusade on Islamic extremists, how would the Holy See build up an army to do this? how would they get their equipment? This is highly unlikely, but just how of curiosity, I'm just wondering if entire nations would participate in this.

The days of the Pope declaring such a Crusade are over.  In past centuries (including prior to Henry the Eighth in the England), the peasants owed their loyalty to multiple levels of mutual governance.  This was in part to their King, and in part to the Pope.  In many respects the Pope had far more power and influence in many European states than had their respective monarchs.  Today again Europe is in a position of multiple layers of governance, however the today the entity higher than the state is that of regional governance, and the EU.

And if the EU announced a Crusade I would laugh even harder.

The Pope don't need to declare any holly war, it is allready there, but the weapons of the Vatican are forgiveness and love to the enemies. That's some thing that extremisms of all centuries coul'd defeat. The times of inquisition and cruzades finished long time ago and the Vatican is very well placed for the 21th century after Jean Paul II.

You mention one source I find evil.  The Papacy controls gazillions wealth which it could readily liquidate and distribute.  It urges married people to breed like rabbits.  When good Catholics actually breed like rabbits yet the majority of them lack the resources to feed what they breed, the Catholic Church appeals to all good people, not just Catholics, to pay for the excessive breeding.  The Church itself never pays out at a loss.  This disgusts me.  I despise the Catholic Church, as it is an evil institution which continues to subsist off the goodwill of others while it literally feeds off the stupid and continues to enrich itself.  The Catholic Church is an instrument of evil in the modern world.  It should be contained in the interim and ultimately destroyed for the vast misery it perpetuates.  0.02

Yeah and they probably hate teddy bears too! Bad, bad popery!

But if encouraging people to breed like rabbits is a definition of evil, shouldn't we
destroy Hollywood which encourages single people to breed like rabbits?

I would be intrigued though to hear in greater detail how you intend to manage what the Caesars, the Moslems, and the Communiests couldn't do and what the Nazis didn't dare try.

There is simply no logic in this...if pope was to declare a crusade I'm pretty sure a lot of people would die of laughter

not only that but who is going to be the enemy?Just because terrorists bombed somewhere whp is going to Christians attack at?
everything about this is ridicoulus......if you mean like fighting only the terrorists than thats another biiiiig problem since they can hide easily

Look the population winter in Japan, Europe or Canada.  That?s evil. No kids at all, just oldie boomers enjoying expensive toys and viagra. Now, they realize there will not be enough people to keep their economy running and in few years the social ensure will collapse. For example in Canada where I live now, the government is encouraging people with money and benefits to have more kids, after the devastation of the quiet revolution in the 60?. In Quebec, a lot of schools and small towns are closed in the interior because there are not kids and population at all.

Now, they receive immigrants like me, with my 3 kids, and they really appreciate it, because it?s for mutual benefit.

The Church encourages people to have kids not just for common sense, also because it?s the base for a sustainable society. The problems for the poor countries don?t come just for the number of kids, in fact, in cases like China that's an asset. In Peru where I come from, the economy was booming in between 6% and 8% the last 7 years and it will continue like that after the trade marked signed with USA, and soon with Canada, China and Europe, and also because there is a lot of young people to keep the companies in movement. In fact, so much young people, that we can transfer new blood to the old countries. Before you ask me, so, why I left my country if the economy it?s so well, let me tell you that the communist terrorist devastate Peru in the 80?s, the years I should made some money and to buy a house. I realize it was too late for me and I came to Canada where my family is enjoying the live I couldn?t give to them in my beloved country. Immigration is the big drama of our times, where millions from the south are coming to the north, to resolve problems at both sides of the equator.

Nasty German Idiot       2/24/2008 6:54:33 PM
The Pope is a crazy guy that bothers my atheist soul since years.   Although he is intelligent, he shows all sign of the typical German catholic church attitude:  Kill all attempts to modernize, keep Priests from marriage, rather tolerate molesting children than allow a small change in church law.   And that even at a time, when the Catholic church in Germany is more or less officially paying money for 3 children of catholic priests, and additionally there is an association of inofficial wifes of catholic priests !!!

In 1981 he was the head of the "Glaubenskongregation" -  the official representative of what was once the "Holy Inquisition" - no joke !    And he also still keeps views like: Condoms wont help against Aids, because the virus is so small that a Condom cant contain it ... simply laughable ...   im only glad that the church is dying out in Germany.

I'm pretty sure you never read any one of the books of Joseph Ratzinger.
Just watch how his crazy ideas works pretty well in some places of the world, where the condom didn't.
To know the true, is better to see both sides of the coin, and believe me, Catholic faith has a lot of things to teach in this crazy moment.
