Subject: JASSM failure and Herald bad faith
Bluewings12    6/11/2007 8:42:54 AM
On the Ozzie board , that idiot of Herald has writen the following : ""This sounds like a random sample test from batch lots in our inventory. That means it is NOT good news for us, if that is the case. Nobody ever said that the US was immune to MICA missile disease. We have our THALES bastards too."" I call you an idiot because you 're comparing apples and oranges (a crap stealth cruise missile with an excellent A2A missile) and because you 're probably one of the very rare person in this World not to acknowledge the excellence of MICA and to practice your usual French bashing . JASSM is a complete failure , it 's well over budget and will be most probably scrapped soon . MICA is a total win-win missile in use in 4 Countries . Its Vertical launched version is a clear winner too , despite Herald 's usual inept bashing . Cheers .

1. Propagandam blurbs don't overcome the true sad state of affairs I pointed out about MICA.
2. You want another example of shoddy French manufacturing?

Try EXOCET. Ask the Argentinians the British and the US what we found out about the missile.

Quite night again. A/S at 1415,Sheffield was hit by Exocet, badly damaged and crew taken off by Arrow. Two major fires out of control, Exocet failed to explode, apparently the fires were started by the missile efflux???? Lost Firemain, Major Fireball. It appears they were totally unprepared for the attack, at least 20 dead!!!!!! It is bloody TRAGIC, really feel down, could so easily have been us!! My God what a shambles, I know you can't expect to fight a war without loosing men / ships etc but should this of happened?????????
My guts are churning so much the ache, we are closed up again at A/S Section Base very quite no one wants to talk, all lost in our own private thoughts and I'm thinking who is next?
DID NOT TAKE LONG FOR THEM TO REACT

A few seconds later the first missile smashed into the port side of the frigate, tearing a 10-by-15 foot hole in the Stark’s steel hull. It plowed through the crew’s quarters, the post office, and the ship’s store. Fortunately, the missile’s warhead failed to explode. The missile did, however, spew burning rocket propellant along its path of destruction, causing a major fire that incinerated the ship’s combat information center and disabled its electrical systems. The second missile also hit on the port side near the bridge; only this time the missile’s warhead blew up on contact, destroying a large section of the frigate’s superstructure.

Contrast that miserable 50% detonation failure rate with HARPOON with over a 90% warhead detonation rate.

JASSM failure rate is reported as less than 50%. Eight out of thirty tests failed in the program weapon proofing history. Those are issues of antenna design and GCU software faults. Sound familiar? It should. Its similar to MICA's technical faults in broad outline. This difference though;

I honestly think Herald uses the word "Idiot" or "fool" too often.  HOWEVER, this is probably the time to suggest that more is gained by gentle discussions and give and take, than these flame wars.

Herald , all your bla-blas about the old version of Exocet is now irrelevant . We 're in 2007 and we have 2 newer versions since .
Exocet is and still one of the best ~if not the best and proven~ anti-ship missile .
The rest of your post is a poor exemple of excuses .
I rest my case .

Cheers .

Herald1234    Not proven.   6/14/2007 6:48:00 PM
I've written this elsewhere, BW, but your assertions wiuthout evidence are worthless.

Notice that I supply evidence to support what I write?

Prove that Exocet works, if you can. I proved that in the times when it was used in war, it malfunctioned.

My blah blah is worth more than your wah wah.
