Question: Did Ishapore SLRs (Indian FN FAL semi-autos) have those dust-grooves cut in? It was almost exactly the same specifications as Brit SLRs, but I dont know about this aspect. Thanks in advance. Also Turkey still has G-3s, I believe. Indian Army gave up SLRs to paramilitary and armed police atleast since 1998. INSAS is more FAL and AKM based than an AK-74 clone.

As a battle rifle the M14 is outclassed by the G3 and the FN FAL by far. But the true role of the M14 isn't as a battle rifle as it was in Vietnam. What the M14 truly excells in (as the US army has already found out) is as a designated marksman rifle.

of the G3/FN I'd go with the FN. Exellent track record world wide.
