Yep, that's them, though the round actually has a slight taper to it, and slightly exceeds the case length and overall length of .357 magnum. Concerning the round nose, it shares this feature with early marks of .303, the 'J' series 7.92mm Mauser round, and US 30-03 caliber, to name a few. Definitely not something I'd take instead of a spitzer round, but not something that prevents it doing the job inside 300 meters.

I've posted the relative statistics before, the short version of the story being that 30 carbine from an 18" barrel develops about twice as much muzzle energy as a 357 magnum round, with a somewhat superior ballistic coefficient, as well, if I'm not mistaken.
