Subject: UAV Transport

In a recent conversation with friends, a point was made that with the new Sherpa GPS guided cargo parachute system, it might be possible to have a UAV cargo aircraft that could deliver supplies to troops on the ground in dangerous areas - without risking crew. The point was made that a C-17 today can basically takeoff, fly its mission, return and land without a crew (?). But is there much sense to this? Maybe Sherpa enabled pods small enough to be carried on more survivable F-18's etc would be sufficient for such risky deliveries.
