UN embargo against Yemen rebels has been approved. Saudi Arabia has decent navy. Why don't the 'volunteer' to enforce the embargo and close the sea route ?

1.  The UN approved an embargo, not a blockade.
2.  Food and medical aid are exempt from the embargo.  This provides more than enough cover for smuggled goods, like light weapons and ammunition.  Especially as it is now likely to be broken up between multiple, much smaller, vessels.

Exempt nothing. The point of a blockade is to starve a people into surrender. So starve them.

I know very well how embargo works. Saudi navy could board and search incoming ships.

Starve people into actual submission and end the violence? Perish the thought, its not the modern way.
Today we have bleeding heart NGO's who's very existence is predicated on the suffering of these poor souls, if they dont prolong the short term suffering, how ever will they extort the funding necessary to maintain their sorry existence?

OK, the above was by far the most cynical version of what happens on the ground, but I'm pretty sure that the outcomes the same. People want to do good and end up causing far more harm than good. THis is a result of our meddlesome ways and the detrimental effect we tend to have.

Onto more serious matters. The articles name.
I had no idea where the author was going with it, but I've seldom been so disappointed. Reality vs expectation was a massive let down. Of the hundreds of possible scenarios, from hearing Chewies voice on the CB radio, through to god knows what…. didn't see this let down coming.

Han Solo is, most likely, unislamic, for some reason(s). Not to even mention Chewbacca. So, neither side down there would hire them, anyway.

Han's soul could possibly be saved, despite his liberal atheist ways, Chewie however is beyond redemption and doomed I'm afraid.

I'd say it's not just NGO's.. you've summed up a great deal of western politics in general..  If you aren't part of the solution... there's good money to be made prolonging the problem (ok.. I borrowed the latter part.. but it holds true, I think).

Allegedly, there is more of Star Wars being filmed. Well, here is an idea for a plot. Han Solo and Chewie crashed on a caliphate planet. Han Solo is offered to convert to Islam in exchange for his life, but Chewie is to be executed. Then daring rescue takes place....
In the end, Solo and Chewie conclude that Empire wasn't so bad after all, compared to some other things out there.

Where's Jarjar binks fit in your plot? Sounds a little too derivative.
Doesn't sound plausible….

Joe, it is a large part of the problem, and yes, its not just NGO's.
However, i don't think governments are as culpable. Elected officials are answerable to those imbeciles that elect them, at least every few years.
Most people in the west aren't fond of us being overly meddlesome, this at least create a facade of restraint on the levels of stupidity to which our governments will go as regards handing out stuff that in the long run only hurts the beneficiaries, we also cry about how much tax is being wasted stuffing paper mache' into a hole in the dyke..
NGO's don't suffer any of the above constraints, so long as there are backpackers willing to work for a few shekels an hour peddling poverty so that we may donate on our western street corners, there will be causes for them to fight.
