If Ukrainians were not incorporated into Russia in 18th century, they were even more forcibly incorporated into Poland, or into Lithuania. And perhaps there be no Ukraine now. Actually most of current Ukraine is occupied by sort-of-russians, except of small western part, which is occupied by descendants of nazi collaborators. They clearly have no fondness for Russia.
