young men kill themselves

You compare the suicide rate in the military, who tend to be young men, with that of the general population (11 per 100 thousand). This exaggerates the problem. A better statistic would be to compare it to the rate of other young men, since men commit suicide more than women. The suicide rate in young men is about 20 per 100 000, and the suicide rate in those who have access to guns or lethal drugs (including docs and cops) is higher: Doctors suicide rate is often cited as 20 but is probably over 28. And I suspect women soldiers, like women docs, have a rate equal to their peers.

And the word isn't staunching; it's stanching.

The elephant in the room is family law. Family law and misandry in general in the name of equality
in the name of feminism. These guys join the military and give there all. Many of these same kind of young men are the same kind of men that marry and have families. They delusionally believe they are doing right an will be respected for their commitments to such. But family for a man today is a legal burden with constant threats of punishment from authorities. Any attempt to lead his family is treated abuse and in the meantime his wife is filing for divorce because and you have a man that has given everything he has to his country and his country is taking his kids from him kicking him out of his house and threatening him once again if he doesn't or even if he can't pay child support. Wait until the government goes paperless and direct deposits disability money directly into accounts and the states start no limit talking money for CS. I bet the huge majority of the suicides involve divorce, relationship, or false accusations of some sort.
I have 13 years in the marine corps the last five was a constant reminder about how we (men) were all abusers sexist homophobes and for white males throw in racist and everything else. And armed forces radio and television overseas was even worse. that was going on the the nineties it has got to be many times insulting for young men now.
