Subject: biological weapon use in china by japanese?

I know of the use by the japanese of biological weapon in china against the chinese and later against the russians. my question is how long after WW2 did the chinese people suffer from the effects of the diseases that the Japanese used? and is this typical of the length of the effects of bio weapon use.
