There seem to be a danger if terrorists get their hand on them. Question: Why do they not dumb them on very deep water like sensible people do???????

Actually, sensible nations destroy the contents of the shells and other chemical weapons in special incinerators so the weapons are no longer a danger to people or the environment. Takes a long time, but better than warehousing them so they can leak all over your country.

Several tons are destroyed each month alongside conventional duds at Le Crotoy, but even after 90 years they keep popping up all over the place in northern France.

What's in them? Mustards, Phosgene, Chlorine?
Where's that dump with the 16,000 shells?
Hopefully not anywhere near my friends and relatives live!

Mid Atlantic would seem an appropiate place.
