Subject: nukes for terrorists???
paul1970    6/1/2005 11:18:38 AM
what is the latest on terrorists getting hold of nukes? I presume that there are plenty of groups who are trying to get them. where would they get them from? are little nukes at the level that could be smuggled into somewhere in a heavy case, freight crate, truck? either by sea or across land borders... if freight crate, what would stop stop someone sending one over on the back of a container ship, or even transfered to a small vessel, and detonating it as the ship docked at a major port? speculation tends to lean on the idea that NK already has nuclear bombs. if they feared US first strike would they not put a couple of bombs on ships, no NK flagged of course, to be used as required?

The first sign of the general public knowing terrorists have nukes would probably be a mushroom cloud.

I would have thought that terrorists would boast of having them to try and leverage position for whatever they wanted.... afterall, actually using one gets them nothing but the death and destruction caused by its use. fine if that is what they want but most groups have an agenda that is not purely "kill the infedel" and they actually want something from the infedel, be it withdraw from somewhere or something else. anyway.... what about the portability of nukes that axis of evil or terrorists might get hold off? that is my main drive here. they are not going to use them "conventionally" they are more likely to deliver them on the back of a truck than on the end of a BM.
