Subject: RE:Translation difficulties

To REALLY get lost in translations, look up where we got "cannon" from, the days of the fighting sails. Ships were armed with bombards, culverin, cannon, demi-culverin, demi-cannon, and a whole bevy of names to label their shot weapons. Somewhere along the way, it was decided that the best firepower per size/weight ratio came from the culverin and cannon weapons, and over time "cannon" came to be the common name.
