PS: Looks like an anti armor round, can anyone here tell me if the Taliban still have armored vehicles around, or are they just going after Canadian rearming procedure ?   Or do they acutally fire those things at snipers ?   Really like to know

Maybe the Taliban started wearing body armor? You know... the new ones they bought on the black market with ceramic chest trauma plate inserts?

For those wondering why the Cdn. have tanks, take a look at what happened during Operation Medusa when our troops ran into entrenched Taliban fighters hiding behind walls often more than a foot thick.

A sabot will go straight through such walls, giving those behind quite a shock I would imagine.

In the 1991 Gulf War Iraqi armour was destroyed by sabot shot straight through their hull down positions, as a result of the dirt not being sufficiently compacted - the sabot able to penetrate the dirt and the tanks frontal armour.

In Op Medusa our LAVIII's main gun ran into problems in cracking the hardened walls that were often several feet thick.  We eventually brought in our 155mm howitzers and air to bare on the enemy.  The same obstable would not pose a problem for a Leo; especially the newer ones with the 120mm gun.
