Subject: New type of wheel for the Stryker.
32degrees    11/7/2007 1:16:19 AM
A lot of information has been gathered on the fact that the Stryker has terrible traction in muddy terrain. Would it make sense to design a wheel to better cope with mud.
Something like a solid wheel with a pliable covering around it with pneumatic treads extending out when the tire hits the ground. Something like two to three inch paddles coming out to dig into the mud. I mean if you looked at the wheel as a clock they would come out at between 9 and 8 and retract at 4. Sounds crazy but what the heck.
It would probably have a terrible ride on road but it seems that it might be useful off road or in countries with terrible roads and no infrastructure
