This is really getting tedious. The LecLerc has not made the cut in approx a dozen tender evaluations by some sophisticated militaries. In some of those evaluations the LecLerc was offered at the same price as the nominal winners and they were still rejected. The LecLerc has been selected by only one country outside of France, and that country has had no armoured combat experience since it was created. It doesn't matter that people may think it is a deserving winner at all, the bottom line is that NO one else has selected it. The selection teams are comprised of individuals who don't sit on the internet, they don't sit in a room just reading books, they actually are involved in war fighting for an occupation. The consistency of choice by multiple militaries must be self evident that other tanks are deemed better and more relevant for the eventual outcome. Platform evaluations are made on a "raft" of selection criteria, not on what the manufacturer wants the tender eval team to look at (after all, they are just like new car salesmen, "theirs" is always the best). Can we just drop this and get on with it? It is really quite irritating and is serving no purpose but to drag this thread out to a laborious and excruciating death. You don't need stats, you need to understand that professional people make professional decisions, and in this case it is unanimous and not in favour of a certain platform.

The T-80U and T-90 can be penetrated by the RPG-29 and Kornet missiles over the frontal arc with ERA. APFSDS rounds didn't fare as well as the missiles though. Russian armor isn't that great. link

Sorry but you always come with it hasnt been chosen, i dont need to say you that political event matter more than military ability of the stuff sold , isnt it?? And during all the test that has done the Leclerc, it wasnt ready, in sweden, it was still old T3 version that suffered a lot of small technical problems due to the age of the tank. The idear of GIAT by sending a not finished tank has been to bring information on the other stuff and to see how to change and finish the Leclerc to do it has best as possible, they had nothing to loose by testing it. Now we are arriving to the Leclerc T10 and it has evolved a lto since the T1 and i think that if they were another test, we wouldnt see the sam result.

Couac_Attack my friend, if it is not getting selected politically and or militarily then that means that there is a severe problem beyond that of just mechanical performance. As for being able to submit a platform for re-assessment. Most major capital "land" acquisitions take a 3-10 year selection cycle (on average). If you don't get it right on the day - then so be it. The manufacturers know this, if they fail to put their best product forward, then more fool them. In addition, some nations will look at the purchasing decisions of others for a number of reasons, be it trust in the selection teams methods, be it commonality, be it timing. If GIAT or any company has not worked those subtleties out by now, then they are in for some more selling grief. OTOH, Caesar is recognised as one of the best artillery platforms in the world and there is no trouble selling that platform to various militaries. The fact that their task is tedious with respect to the LecLerc should speak volumes about its suitability, acceptability, tender conformal issues etc.... Obviously someone in GIAT is listening to the wrong messages.

I've never heard the Caesar being the best artillery platform in the world.

Read my thread. "Caesar is recognised as one of the best artillery platforms in the world" ie "one of the best" and yes, there is some very healthy respect for it. CEASAR gives you a SPH for the cost of a towed unit. It all gets down to platform tasking and suitability of the tasking etc... Under diff political circumstances I think even the USMC might have considered it as part of a "suite"

I haven't read all the posts but the Leopard 2 of the German army definitely needs a mention. Sprog
