The MBT Leclerc is best of the best. With his automatic loader the Leclerc can fire up to 12 shots per minutes at high speed at different targets(high speed too) even when running in cross-country. Thus no other mbt's can achieve that actually.(French engineers are constanly improving the ROF of the automatic loader of the Leclerc) The 120mm L/52 calibre smoothbore gun is very powerfull in parity with Leopard II L/55. Leclerc Vo: 1790 m/s Leopard II Vo: 1800 m/s(Not a big mess) One guy here post that L/55 gun of Leo can achieve 2000 m/s, well i never saw such figure anywhere in the net and books(magazines). Giat continue to work for improving the main gun and also working for a bigger gun. Acceleration: 0 to 32 km/h in less than 6 seconds.(unmatch) Top speed: 80 km/h.(unmatch) Top speed cross-country: >55 km/h.(unmatch) Reverse top speed: 38 km/h Range: 550 km. This tank has a superb design and it's a very compact main battle tank. Thus smaller and slightly lighter, which mean harder are the chance to hit it and with a quicker acceleration and top speed prove further difficulties for the foes. Armour is classified. But believe to be very good and very thick and modular(in fact i believe the French's were the first to develop modular armour), so unless more info's is release on that matter it will be pure speculation for those who are anti-french to argues againsts. As for the electronics and computers well easy the best and most modern main battle tank in the world.(no room for argumentation) Giat -FINDERS- is genius! and is the ultimate tool of victory. See from that data's the Leclerc is unmatch in most domains.

You forget to add that the Leclerc is very photgenic. It has been in a James Bond movie. Surely that qualifies it for the title? After all the other tanks you dismiss (apart from the Leo2) have been in battle. Movies and magazine specifications are the ultimate test of a tanks capability are they not? :)

Nice post spectra, i wouldnt have said better :D But you would need to precise that the Leo2 has got a L55 just since the A6. And where have you founded the warheads velocity ?

Couac_Attack - It was a recent Pierce Brosnan movie, I think it was filmed in Prague. Brosnan is driving through the city with a staue of pegasus stuck on the turret. Perhaps you should travel to Roanne? There used to be a Leclerc on display sitting on a Famas transporter just outside of the factory.

" I thought it was a Russian tank , i think that you are talking about Goldeneye, isnt it ?

No, it was a Leclerc. They were advertising it outside of the factory that makes them. AFAIK production has stopped now as there has only been one customer. The company has retrenched approx 600 people over the last few years, and the Govt does not want to keep the line open for future work.
