Subject: Who has the best tank?

Was looking at some interesting reading on the net regarding modern tanks, alot of people are under the impression the british challenger 2 tank has the best armour in the world ( I always thought it was the M1 ). Does anyone have any proper info on this, just curious.

Don't know much about the technical specs on tanks although I do find it very interesting, just assumed U.S was best.

The best armour, the most heavily armed tank. The most resistant to attack.

Between the Challenger 2, M1a2, and Leopard 2; it would be who got off the first shot. You would give the Leopard 2 the nod for the gun system (the 120 is their baby) The M1a2 for speed and new gee wiz electronics The Challenger 2 for overall protection Great site on the Leopard...not as well known as the other two! link During a cat fight, it would boil down to the gods of war (luck) and the better trained crew!

The following is based on educated guesswork. Best armour: Challenger 2 Best crew survivability: Merkava 4 Best FCS and observation: Merkava 4 or M1A2 Best armed (AT): potentially the Leopard 2A6, but since no users use DU, The Abrams edges it out. Best armed (AP): Late Soviet mark with 125mm gun Best armed (general purpose): Challanger 2. HESH is great. And about a million other categories where 'best' is entirely subjective.

The T 95 is probably the best tank in the world(if they have a prototype out).

The United States has the best tank for its needs. The U.K. has the best tank for its needs. Germany has the best tank for its needs etc, etc, etc...
