Subject: the American public and war
Sir Tristam    8/14/2001 7:11:49 PM
Of course, one can be antiwar without being
procommunist but this does not negate the fact
of communist manipulation of the peace movement. I just finished watching the movie Hanoi Hilton
and the movie shows how the North Vietnamese tortured U.S. pilots to get fake confessions
to erode support for the war. The NVA wanted to win on the U.S. home front and this was an active part of their strategy. Regarding the Gulf of Tonkin the U.S. did not fake the incident but may have covered up the fact that the U.S. was engaged in commando raids on North Viet Nam at the time. I think that was a British misconception that American's at the time of the
revolution were not prepared to die for freedom.
Americans did die for their liberty and fought
many battles against the Red Coats. Finally,
Americans are still willing to fight and
die for their country if they can understand
the issues and the government is 100% behind the
effort.

And god bless america! Unluckily there are other people in the world who are also willing to die for their country. That leads to the fact that people will die for their country! Always remember: The objective of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his!
