It takes about 6 weeks to get a 50% improvement of strength by lifting weights, it is best if you do this every other day. In addition to weight training, you must run before the weight training. You want to work your way up to 2-3 miles per day. Finaly take martial arts classes. nothing you can do beyond these three things will build your confidance faster. Good luck, work hard for 6 months and you might make it. If not take a year if you have to, but no mater what never give up, you can do any thing you want. My partner was 5'7" and weighed 134 pounds. He was the most feared H2H artist in the three services and whent undefeeted for four years of full contact matches. Also read chuck noris's history, he is a short medium sized guy.

if you have the money, join a gym. It is important that you set yourself a target and try to achieve it. Once you have done that set yourself another and another. The important thing in physical fitness and training is not to push too hard too to soon otherwise you risk injuring yourself. I have done it and it is no fun.
