I lived on Okinawa for about 2 1/2 years around 1969. The UXOs were a constant problem. The one I spicificly remember was the discovery of a projectile from the 16" guns of one of our battleships. I do not remember the specifics, but it seems to me the UXOs removed each year was in the tons
