Sea-air power versus land power. The Eagle's enemies have tried Mackinder three times and been beaten three times.

Round four coming up. And those idiots never learn.

The Chinese leadership are a bunch of idiots. It is a truism that "Captains should study tactics, and Generals must study logistics". The Chinese are belligerently angering all of the nations that sit on their shipping lanes, and can easily embargo all of China's foreign trade. Also, 40% of China's economy is directly dependent on foreign trade, and therefore an embargo would cut China's economy in half. In addition to that fact, war with China is likely to be seen as an opportunity to cancel all of the foreign debt that China holds now at $3.4 Trillion with $1.3 Trillion in US Treasuries.
To review if China's belligerence start a major war:
1. It will destroy China's economy
2. It will cost them all of their foreign debt holdings
3. And China will lose because their logistics have been destroyed

Well.. Let's see how we gonna fight Putin first (heck, we've got one front and center now, not a presumable somewhere down the road), And BTW, Ruskies are the paramount land power. Are we gonna talk, walk, or beg off, my fellow keystroke warriors?

Do you really think that Putin is all that serious a problem? He threatens nothing. Let him swallow the Ukraine bellyache and see where it lands him.  In the poorhouse with the mobs in the streets. He doesn't  have the money to risk a full scale war, so like a mouse nibbling on poisoned cheese he chews on Ukraine. He is in fact a rather stupid man.

Putin/Russia are hardly a match. Even for a depleted EU, sans american support.
He's pissed off the EU/US a little and already his country is in recession.
He keeps this up much longer, and sanctions are likely to get serious. Enough to really cripple Russias economy. Who cares what his troops are doing, if he can't feed them, they'll turn around and come home. If he forgets to feed his people, he'll be on his ass even faster.
Remember, in Europe alone, Germany, France, England and Italy all have bigger economies than Russia.
Spain would've beaten Russia too, only GFC, coupled with un-sound economic planing has put paid to Spanish anything,

Putin has his hands full with corrupt, impoverished Ukraine.

"In 2014 China an actual war would likely destroy the communists, who are unpopular already because of corruption and abuse of power."
