What is the status? . At some point it still boils down to having enough boots on the ground no matter how much technolgy you have.

What is the status?  At some point it still boils down to having enough boots on the ground no matter how much technology you have.

Its Status is that its moved on to Enhanced Company Operations, which is basically Company-level DO.  Its transitioned fr/ Squad & Platoon level development (DO) to the Company (ECO) which is seen as the Optimum platform for running Fully Independent DO across all spectrums & house all support functions.

But as a point of Clarification, DO was never about the technology, that was something the other services & military article writers focused on.  For the USMC it was about Mentally & Tactically pushing the limits of the individual Marine & the Small Unit.

In fact as an early measure for further development the DO Test Units had to prove that they could perform DO w/out any Tech; just  rifles, radios, & a compass, to be considered a viable program.  And when the Test Units deployed (Afghanistan/Philippines) in '06 it was w/out most of that equipment, which was still in development.

DO is designed to leverage Tech not be dependent on it.
