I would prefer an m8 or a g36 they may not be reliable or cheap but they have a good range and a fair amount of damage. I just in general prefer western guns because even though they jam they're powerful and have extremely good accuracy. But thats only in like desert or plains or urban enviroments now if your in like a jungle or in muddy trenches then id prefer an ak of somesort.

G36 doesn't do anything an M16/M4, British L85, French FAMAS, etc etc et does.  I think it's an okay weapon for what it is, but after putting some rounds through a G36, I did not see anything about it that made me prefer it to my issue M4A1.

 

As for the XM8, it didn't have jamming problems . . . it just melted during sustained use.  I'd take just about anything, including an AK with that patented "designed by a drunk orangutan" control layout over an XM8.  Thankfully procurement of that disaster got tanked.
