Subject: Safe from small arms in a foxhole?
oldcolt    7/31/2009 11:00:39 PM
In another forum on this site I asked about the ability of small arms to penetrate through dirt. There was a site ("Box of Truth") referenced that seemed to suggest that even at decent ranges (to avoid shatter, yaw, etc.) that rifle rounds barely penetrate into sand.

Is a solider laying prone at the bottom of his foxhole immune to the effects of small arms, as long as he doesn't stick his head out?
